Rehearsal space crisis averted!

For the past month my band has been in limbo, unable to schedule any rehearsals, and unsure whether paying the full rehearsal rent was worthwhile. We’ve decided to drop the lease, but fortunately my drummer and I were able to negotiate a little time each month in the space for drumming and collaborating. :D So I can pick up where I left off and work on my chops again.

The CANT 7” arrived, and with a return address so ridiculously close to me that it wasn’t worth the postage. Unfortunately, the rest of our mail haul wasn’t quite so awesome.

Visit Chris Taylor’s new label Terrible Records to order a copy of the 7”. There’s a pretty amusing blog on the site as well. Eat it up, fangirls.

I’ve received a few emails about that little splash of CB’s…it’s so ridiculously beaten up on its boingy spring, yet this seemingly makes people want to elope with it. By chance I caught Grizzly Bear’s performance of “Two Weeks” on Conan tonight, and the sight of the splash made me giggle. I’ll post another time a series of reader-submitted Q&A’s with Mr. Bear.

Seems someone has a good sense of humor over there.

Meeting Ed Droste’s Cousin

The other night I was at my local Williamsburg bar with my friends, one of whom knows the bartender. Said bartender handed us his business cards for another venture of his, which led to the realization that he is in fact Mr. Droste’s cousin. I told him about this blog and warned him that he may become post fodder. Then he mixed us an amazing rye drink and lit it on fire.

Stumbled across this app today and thought it might be helpful for people like me who are aspiring to knock successful musicians out of their bands. Although you’d probably have to be a bit more ambitious than I am.

Three Degrees of Chris Bear

Three of my friends are chums of various members of the band, but no direct lines to CB himself yet. I’m waiting it out…the connection is bound to surface when the time is right and my drumming chops are polished enough to challenge him to a duel.

Off-Topic: Psst…I have my own band

What I doubt I’ve touched upon on this blog is that although I’m still in the clunky stages of drumming, I’m a lead guitarist for an indie rock band called Ford & Fitzroy. We’re currently developing a somewhat new sound and writing all-new material for winter shows, so stay tuned for some NYC dates.

In the meantime, enjoy our old album on eMusic or the site linked above. I’m also fond of the fact that our cute bassist Scott was featured in Interview Magazine recently…check out his photo, it came out great!
